Gordie was raised on a ranch northeast of Calgary, Alberta. He started playing guitar at the age of 12 and joined a band at the age of 15. He spent his early years touring Alberta as a lead vocalist for a country band and in 1976 struck out for England as the "Calgary Cowboy". For the next 15 years Gordie promoted the Calgary Stampede, Alberta and Canada throughout the British Isles, Europe, Scandinavia, the Orient and much of North America.

Gordie has released six albums covering a varied repertory of country, rock, easy listening, ballads and sing-along music.

In the early 1990's Gordie returned to Calgary and continued to promote the Calgary Stampede, the city of Calgary and the province of Alberta across Canada and the USA. He performed at Cowboy Festivals in Alberta and BC, and with his bass playing partner, became a regular at the Kamloops Cowboy Festival, the premier festival in Canada and at the Frontier Pavilion at the Calgary Stampede.

When not playing Gordie worked as a Tour Director introducing Tourists from abroad to Alberta, and British Columbia. In 2003 he moved to his ranch north of Kamloops BC and in 2025 he and his wife, Shirley, moved back to Alberta settling in Barrhead AB.

Gordie continues to delight audiences at Seniors Residences, Legions and private and corporate events. He enjoys conducting Cowboy Churches. He is a showman, combining an amazing vocal range with stories and history.
