Gordon was born and raised at Stavely Alberta. At the age of 15 He borrowed a saddle horse and rode to the Flying E Ranch to work. Gordon tried other occupations but always returned to the cowboy way of life He was a Brand Inspector and manager of a Provincial Grazing reserve. After
20 years with the Alberta Provincial Government he retired.
Gordon retired the second time after 10 years from Heritage Park, a Historical Village, where he was the Village Blacksmith. Gordon began writing poetry in 1997 and has one book and one CD.
