From his small horse ranch on the bald, wind swept Canadian Prairies, "Rhymin’ Diamond Doug Keith" ponders a dilemma of what to do with the other 23 and a half hours in the day. After an hour and a half he decides on havin’ a nap instead of all this thinkin’ (he says it’s in the cowboy code). It is this somewhat warped sense of looking at life, that some say stems from too much time talking to gophers or landin’ on his head after being throw’d too many times, that gives Doug’s work it’s edge. Whatever the reason, Diamond Doug is able to capture a unique comedic take on everyday cowboy life, a life that he lives. Diamond Doug is as much at home working a cow horse or throwing catch twine as he is with a brush, pencil or on a stage.

He travels and features at some of the most prestigious Cowboy Gatherings across North America. He also enjoys being buckaroo entertainment for companies, associations and a wide variety of organizations when they’re having a supper or event. Doug is always happy to show off his art wherever and whenever there’s someone to look at it. The Diamond has created some of Canada’s best known cowboy images such as The Alberta Cowboy Poetry Association’s logo and website cartoons, The 1st Trail’s End Gathering poster, The Willow Creek Gathering cartoons and many other CD covers, books and much more.

Doug was featured in the Espiritu Films/CTV documentary ‘Cowboys, Heroes and Horses. An inside look at Canadian Cowboy Culture through his eyes and was broadcast throughout Canada. The poem ‘Cowboys, Heroes and Horses’ was published in Canadian Cowboy Country magazine. An honor and thrill for the Diamond. Another thrill was being featured in the 2 hour Calgary Stampede nationally televised special on CBC and being interviewed on CMT. Just recently he was the focus of a documentary for CTV on his poetry and his cartooning. He is also being featured in a segment of Cowboy Country TV.

Diamond Doug has captured first place in ‘Tall Tale Tellin’ competitions and has been named Manitoba Cowboy Poet of the Year. He is known for his humorous story tellin’ as well as his poems. In 2005 the JUNOS came calling, where Doug was the MC for the JUNOFEST Country Showcase, featuring George Canyon and others. Doug is very excited to be a featured Cartoonist and Columnist in Horse Country Magazine. Workin’ on one of his stories and a cartoon to match in every issue.

The Diamond was commissioned to produce the official portrait of "Skoal’s Airwolf", the three-time world champion buckin’ horse, upon its retirement. The detailed pencil piece was framed with one of Airwolf’s original bum patches that was worn at the NFR in Las Vegas.

He has been accepted into the prestigious Cowboy Cartoonists International with the likes of; Boots Reynolds of Western Horseman magazine, Mike Scovel, the highest selling artist of Leanin’ Tree Cards, Canadian Cowboy Country Magazine’s Ash Cooper and the one and only Ben Crane, as well as numerous other great North American Cowboy Cartoonists. He has also been nominated for a CCMA award for album cover design of the year. In fact, Doug’s illustrations have garnered him many provincial and national awards.

Promoting cowboy culture through his poems, cartoons and western art, is where Doug is the happiest. His greatest love however, is his daughter and up and coming Cowboy Poet/singer, Cody Anne. Look for them either in a saddle or around a camp fire near you.
