Rocky Mountain Cowboy Festival
David Thompson Resort

On May 29, 30, and 31st, 2009, we were blessed with good weather, a great location, a cast of top notch entertainers and a sold out enthusiastic crowd. Feature entertainers Joni Harms, Gary Fjellgaard, and Eli Barsi were nothing short of fantastic performing their original material . The valley certainly did ring with their great music. What a treat to enjoy all these feature performers on one program.

Father and daughter duo Danny and Susan Gibson with their great harmony, perform Western, Country and Gospel music with a whole lot of energy in their performance.

Al Owchar was one busy fellow at the festival. He not only performed his good stuff during the day sets but teamed up with the Three Musty Steers to provide swinging music for the Friday and Saturday night dances. Matt Robertson, a young cowboy and the Kamloops 2008 rising star winner was a real crowd pleaser with his original songs; we are going to hear a lot about this fellow in the near future.

Perry Jacobson and guitar extraordinaire John Cronin was also there to provide the traditional cowboy ballads and some new stuff as well.

Sharky Shauer was in attendance to back up a whole lot of performers.

Mike Puhallo did an outstanding job of keeping the show on schedule as well as keeping the crowd entertained with his excellent poetry. It's not an easy task to herd a group of musicians on and off the stage but Mike kept it rolling like a pro. This was a terrific festival and hats off to Ron Killick and his family who worked non stop to put on an exceptional weekend of Western entertainment.

This was the 4th annual Canadian Rockies Cowboy Festival and hopefully many more to come. If you get the chance to attend as either a performer or a visitor, don't miss the opportunity.
